What is a Tankless Water Heater?
Unlike standard water heaters, tankless or “on-demand” water heaters do not have a large storage tank. Instead, they adhere to the wall and heat water directly only as needed. This can help save on utility bills, as you are only using the exact amount of hot water required for use and won’t waste cold water running down the drain while waiting for it to heat up.
When a tap turns on, water flows through the pipes and passes through the tankless unit, heating the water and sending it quickly back to the source. They can provide around 2-5 GPM of hot water. There’s no waiting for a tank to fill up with hot water, and hot water comes instantly. A downfall is that it works at a much slower flow rate and isn’t ideal for large homes with high water usage. They can also work well for water sourced outside of the house, such as satellite bathrooms, outdoor showers, and hot tubs.
Benefits of a Tankless Water Heater
Converting to a tankless system carries many benefits and is a highly valuable upgrade to any home.
Energy-Efficient
Unlike standard water heaters that continuously heat your home’s water, a tankless water heater will only heat what is necessary. This can reduce energy use by up to 30%, whether with a gas or electric unit.
Longer Life Span
Water storage tanks can fill up with sediment and other minerals that put a lot of wear and tear on your pipes and the system itself. With regular maintenance, your tank water heater can last around 8-12 years. However, Tankless systems work less hard and are a much smaller unit to maintain, and can last up to 20 years or more. This makes the higher upfront costs worth it, with a much bigger return on investment over time.
Never Run Out of Hot Water
If you’ve ever gone to take a shower at night and there’s no hot water, that may be because your tank has been depleted of hot water. After a day of laundry, running the dishwasher, and everyone else in the house taking their showers throughout the day, you can run out. However, the tankless system heats water as it goes, thus creating a steady stream of hot water for all uses. It will never deplete.
Space-Saving Design
Tankless water heaters generally adhere to the wall and are much smaller in size, saving both floor and wall space when installed.
Low Maintenance
Plumbers generally recommend servicing your water heater tank every 6-12 months to ensure it is working correctly and efficiently. But tankless water heaters require much less maintenance and can go years before needing service. Both types, though, can require more maintenance depending on the quality of your water. Harder water can leave residue and mineral build-up throughout your pipes and the systems.
We work with many trusted brands and manufacturers to offer the best tankless water heaters in the industry, including:

Short answer: No. But our one exception is when a customer requests us to complete something out of our scope in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC. Typically, we encourage the customer to hire their own tradesmen if it’s something we don’t do.
However, special circumstances may allow us to partner with another company/individual to accomplish a task that is outside of our trade set. For example, if a customer requests iron cages to be put around their outside condenser, we will reach out to skilled ironworkers to get it done.
